Spring Calendar Update from folkefire

Earlier this year I stormed out from all Meta products losing a significant connection to family, friends and community in the process. I deleted Facebook, Instagram and Threads. I bellowed out one last whimper before I left to encourage friends to subscribe to my soon-to-be-created newsletter.

I landed 21 loyal pals, most of whom opted out of all marketing content, including newsletters, forcing me to circumvent EU email marketing privacy guidelines and manually add them back to my mailing list to receive this valuable content. The following blog is an adaptation of that initial email screed.

May Happenings
I’ve been struggling to commit to my musical passions for years. That is why I created folkefire - an amalgam of my creative pursuits and personal interests. To that end I’ve booked a musical gig Saturday, May 24th at 1:00p.m. at The Scout Wine Bar in Gresham, Oregon (25 NE Third St.). This early performance is timed to coincide with the nearby Farmer’s Market and to encourage families to attend. Please join if you’re around, all ages welcome, free.

In mid-May my own family will make our annual pilgrimage to Port Townsend for its Rhododendron Festival. This will be our first Rhody accompanied by our son Jamie, who is 8-months today. He’s healthy, smiley, laughing - I’ll send pics if you send me an email request. I could stare into his gleaming eyes forever. And he’s cutting his teeth on numerous leaps and related advancements - quite literally this week - his upper two teeth are poking through to mirror the bottom.

June Happenings
June 28th I’ll return to the Dublin Pub in Raleigh Hills (it’s not Beaverton, but it’s close) to perform with Eric Tonsfeldt and Vash Bench. A mixture of Irish music, Americana, some originals, some not. Time TBD, but some time in the evening.

Continued Adventures
In the meantime I’ll continue my other pursuits. Leading the Portland FIRE Meetup, hosting meetings the first Monday of each month at Dick’s Primal on SE Woodstock.

During the third Thursday I’ll participate at the Portland Hibernian Society’s monthly meeting at Kells (SW 2nd Avenue) where I gather with a bunch of local Irish enthusiasts to talk history, culture and all things Ireland.
